T his past spring, I had the opportunity to participate in both the U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council and USA Hockey Congress. As always, both events were filled with meetings, seminars, elections and voting on various proposals. However, I believe the best part of these annual events—aside from the networking and exchanging of ideas—is the recognition of the amazing people, past and present, who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of these organizations and respective sports. These individuals epitomize the word volunteer, and it is always inspiring and refreshing to see the people who consistently do the right thing for the right reason be publicly recognized for doing so. The North American Rink Conference and Expo (NARCE) is the United States Ice Rink Association's opportunity to bring the ice rink industry together annually to network, learn and share knowledge with each other. I believe that NARCE is a very important vehicle for driving our industry, and the individuals that make it their profession, toward current and future success. As you can imagine, there is a lot of work that goes into a national conference and trade show, and the work to put forth a successful event cannot be done by our staff alone. I would like to recognize and thank our Board of Directors, events committee, volunteers, instructors, exhibitors, sponsors and all of our members for their support and efforts in making the 16th Annual NARCE event one of the best ever! We won't be resting on laurels however; we are looking forward to taking the feedback we received from attendees and exhibitors this year to make NARCE 2019 even better. I hope you take the opportunity to join us May 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo, N.Y.
