AUGUST 2018 THE WOLVERINE 75   BASKETBALL RECRUITING JADEN MCDANIELS 6-8 • 195 • SF Federal Way (Wash.) High Rivals.com No. 4 player in the country McDaniels is one of the fastest risers in the 2019 class, and his goal is to be rated No. 1 overall. He's also a relative of former Michigan Fab Fiver Juwan Howard (1992‑94). "He's my mom's cousin," McDaniels confirmed. "I've known him my whole life. I used to go to games and watch him play. "When he went to Seattle when they would play the Sonics, I would go to all the home games and he'd take me to the locker room and show me around." McDaniels was D1 Circuit's "big‑ gest stock booster" after averaging 19.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for Seattle Rotary on the Nike EYBL circuit in the spring. He averaged 21.3 points, 10.0 re‑ bounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 blocked shots per game to lead Federal Way to a 27‑2 season and the state Class 4A state title game. McDaniels' father hands his re‑ cruitment, but Rivals.com's No. 4 prospect nationally does like U‑M. "It's high," he said of the interest. "They call me, and I talk to every day. There's a good relationship with them. "I don't know yet where I'm going to take my visits. My dad does that stuff." AUSTIN CROWLEY 6-4 • 165 • PG/SG Bel Aire (Kan.) Sunrise Christian Academy Rivals.com No. 112 prospect in the land Crowley, a relatively new name, told Bossi that he and his father would sit down in August and start setting up visits. He also pointed out that he's still open and hasn't decided on any schools to v i s i t . A l a b a m a , Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Memphis, Wichita State, Mich‑ igan, Minnesota, Louisiana Tech, Maryland and Stephen F. Austin are among those currently in the mix. Bossi likes the player 's versatility. "He's capable of playing as a long and rangy playmaker or sliding off the ball as a scorer," he said. "Crow‑ ley said some coaches are recruiting him as a point while others see him as a combo." Crowley isn't concerned about his college position. "I will play wherever they want me to," he said. "I'm trying to show coaches that whatever they want from a player, I've got it. "I want to be the guy that people see as an all‑around player, who they look at and feel can do any‑ thing." COLE ANTHONY 6-2 • 180 • PG Queens (N.Y.) Archbishop Malloy Rivals.com No. 2 player in the nation This would appear to be a long shot, but Michigan is on the five‑ star 's list. Bossi said nobody knows for sure where things stand with Anthony. "Kentucky and Duke get thrown a r o u n d a s p o s ‑ sible teams to beat, but Oregon, North Carolina, Kansas, Wake Forest, Mich‑ igan, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Lou‑ isville and pretty much anybody else that you can think of is also thrown out there," he said. "Just my specu‑ lation here, but I think that Oregon and North Carolina may be quietly in there, and it's no coincidence that [coaches] Dana Altman and Roy Wil‑ liams are everywhere he goes. "But the best I or anybody else can do right now is speculate and that's all it is for now. The Anthony group is running a tight ship with no leaks. Don't look for a decision anytime soon either and look for his recruit‑ ment to last into the spring of 2019." Anthony averaged 26.9 points per game in 16 Nike EYBL games and 26.2 in five contests at the July Peach Jam in South Carolina. ❏ Find Out More At TheWolverine.com Recruiting Is HERE! * Daily Team Coverage • Expert Analysis • Recruiting Scoop Prospect Videos • Expert Message Boards • The Wolverine Mobile * Use Promo Code: BLUE30
