The class will cut through the learning curve all beginning (or intermediate) gardeners face and give you the experience, tools, and principles that can make gardens produce lots of food with as little management as possible. The classes will be led by ifarm's head gardener, Debby Richards, who has been gardening and designing edible landscapes for over 30 years. You will have free reign to create a large bouquet or several smaller arrangements. Ifarm's flower garden has over a hundred flower species, including dahlias, zinnias, and scented herbs, so you can be sure that the materials will be inspiring! The flower bar takes place in the carriage house. Join Cogswell's Grant site manager Kristen Weiss for an illustrated talk exploring folk art on Cape Ann. From the celebrated collection at Cogswell's Grant to wonderful pieces at Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House, the Cape Ann Museum, and the Manchester Historical Museum, discover portraits, carvings, and other quirky pieces that illustrate the lives of everyday people. He helped give the United States an architectural public image that relied upon the classicism of Europe. But what was his intention? Did the buildings contain political meanings? Join Richard Guy Wilson, Commonwealth Professor's Chair in Architectural History at the University of Virginia, for a talk that explores Jefferson's architecture and his collaboration with other architects.
