10 POTATO GROWER | AUGUST 2018 New Products Cell Guard by Disinfecting Services Cell Guard, available exclusively from Disinfecting Services, is a new product used to improve airflow in storages by cleaning and maintaining open air passages in common humidification and evaporative cooling pads. Cell Guard will also help to prolong the life of Humidicell media. Over time, these airways can get restricted with hard water deposits, reducing airflow and causing fans to work harder, thereby increasing the amount of energy used. Cell Guard works to effectively reduce this buildup and keep airflow at a healthy rate. Contact Disinfecting Services at (208) 356-5332 or www.disinfectingservices.net. Helm Herbicides Helm Agro US, Inc.'s Helmet and Helmet SPC herbicides have been approved for use on selected crops in California. Advance proprietary formulation with BioRetain technology provides a smaller copper particle size for better spray coverage and uniform, fast distribution of copper metallic ions. An improved uptake system enhances leaf adhesion, penetration and retention within the cuticle of the leaf while providing superior safety to the crop. With broad-spectrum protection and multi-site contact activity, Mastercop is ideal for integrated pest management (IPM). Contact Adama at www.adama.com. BioSafe PVent Biological Fungicide BioSafe Systems announces the release of PVent biological fungicide. An enhancement in microbial fungicide technology, PVent provides growers with an easy-to-use, versatile IPM tool. This innovative development was spearheaded through a strategic partnership between two family-owned businesses: BioSafe Systems and Lallemand Plant Care. Due to its active ingredient, a 93 percent Gliocladium catenulam strain J1446, PVent has unique adaptation traits, meaning it can thrive across broad ranges of temperature and humidity, both in the soil and on leaf and stem tissue. PVent has a natural symbiotic relationship with the rhizosphere microbiome, with part of its adaptive success coming from an enzyme it produces to specifically target pathogenic fungi. This makes PVent an entirely unique biofungicide and a product that will fit in well with IPM programs for indoor and outdoor production. Powered by three modes of action, PVent is biologically programmed to rapidly colonize its host environment to defend against, attack and destroy even the most resilient plant pathogens. PVent can be used on field-grown crops, berries, pome and stone fruits, tree nuts, vineyards and more to control a variety of pathogens including powdery mildew, Fusarium, Phytophthora and Botrytis.
