Deacon Albert Loushin was 'loved by all who met him' BY DENVER CATHOLIC STAFF D eacon Albert Loushin passed away on June 28. He was 66 years old. Albert James Loushin was born on Sept. 28, 1951, in Aspen to Frank and Hazel Loushin. He grew up in and around Aspen. After graduating from Aspen High School, he pursued a degree at Colorado Mountain College in Lead- ville and took a job at the Aspen Skiing Company as a lift operator, eventually becoming a project manager. It was on the slopes of the Aspen Ski Resort where he met Father Thomas Bradtke and Father Thomas Dentici, both of whom had a great infl uence on his future as a deacon in the Catholic Church. On June 12, 1999, Albert was ordained a deacon by Archbishop Charles Chaput. He was unmarried and took a vow of cel- ibacy in his ministry. He joyfully served at both St. Vincent Parish in Basalt and St. Mary of the Crown in Carbondale throughout his ministry. "Deacon Albert was a true leader within the community who was well respected and loved by all who met him," said Deacon Joseph Donohoe, Director of Deacon Personnel for the archdiocese. FILE PHOTO
