But Mother Nature had other plans. The winter storm that struck the Midwest over the holiday delayed many Boilers��� attempts to get back to Purdue, particularly those who were flying into Indianapolis. As a result, interim head coach Patrick Higgins canceled Wednesday���s practice, which was scheduled to be the first since Dec. 21. Purdue did practice Thursday, although 11 Boilermakers were still unable to attend. ���(Missing 11) isn���t too bad considering all the travel problems that I���m sure people have,��� Higgins said. ���But once we knew the storm and the severity of it, we were all about safety first. So stert was one of many who couldn���t make it back to Purdue by Wednesday. The kick returner was in Cleveland, with his girlfriend���s family, when his earlymorning flight Wednesday was cancelled. Finally, he got a flight in the mid-afternoon, flew to Chicago and hitched a ride with Robert Gregory down to campus. ���The airport is pretty boring, especially if you didn���t have an iPad or something like that,��� Mostert said. ���Netflix, that���s what I was doing the entire time.��� Purdue had only one practice in West Lafayette, rather than the scheduled two, but Higgins wasn���t overly concerned. ���The tempo was good, the intensity has been good,��� he said Tom Campbell Florida native Antavian Edison was one of several Boilermakers delayed by inclement weather in the Midwest. But he made it in time to board the team flight Friday morning. we weren���t going to put anybody at risk over a practice; it���s not worth it.��� Seven of those who were still absent Thursday are Texans, including starters Akeem Shavers and Ryan Russell, and stayed there, planning to join their team on Friday in Dallas. The four others were expected back in West Lafayette by Friday morning, at the latest, in time to catch the team flight to the game. Purdue plays Oklahoma State in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Tuesday. Sophomore Raheem Mo- Andrew Wiseman���Mishawaka, Ind. Pre-Physical Therapy and Health Sciences Andrew is one of five members of the wrestling team to earn academic All-Big Ten honors on the Fall 2012 semester.
