The Boilermaker swimmers spent the week before Christmas training in Fort Lauderdale while the divers visited San Juan, Puerto Rico. Purdue captured the men���s dual by a score of 113 to 89, while the women won by a margin of 123 to 81. The men���s team was paced by nine event victories over the Owls, led by a pair of individual victories by freshman Danny Conway. With wins in the 200 IM and 400 freestyle, Conway brought his season total to four victories. The Boilers earned wins in the 100, 200 and 1,000 freestyle events as well as the 100 backstroke and 100 fly events. Individual results from the women���s dual meet available. The men���s team will be back in action Jan. 11 and 12 when it travels north for a pair of dual meets against Michigan State and No. 2 Michigan. The women will be back in the pool Jan. 12 when they visit the Spartans for a dual meet as well. Wrestling returns to the mat Purdue���s wrestling team will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Evanston, Ill., for the Midlands Championships. Three Boilers will enter the event as ���top contenders,��� having been named so by the Midlands Tournament Committee. Cashe Quiroga, Braden Atwood and Tommy Churchard are the three Boilers who were selected. The Boilers enter the event Baseball receiving votes The Purdue baseball team is among seven Big Ten teams to receive votes in the preseason Collegiate Baseball Top 40 poll. Coming off a Big Ten championship, the Boilers are joined in the receiving votes portion of the poll by Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State. Two non-conference opponents are also featured with Mississippi State at No. 13 and Louisville ranked No. 22. j Olympic Sports athlete-of-the-Week: danny conway Freshman Danny Conway continued a successful first season at Purdue with a pair of individual victories against Florida Atlantic during the swimming team���s winter training in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Conway posted wins in the 200 IM and 400 freestyle events and was named Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week as well as Big Ten Swimmerof-the-Week for his performance. He is the Danny Conway second Boiler to earn Freshman-of-the-Week honors, joining teammate Lane Rogers, who has been selected twice this winter.
