CLARK, DVM, MBA, CEO AVMA PLIT PROTECTING YOUR ASSETS PART 1: PROFESSIONAL LI- ABILITY Focus is on equine professional liability and regulatory complaints. Due to constant changes in technology and social media, the practice environment continues to evolve and subsequently presents many unique challenges for equine practitioners. e most frequent types of equine claims seen will be described and tips on how to avoid mal- practice claims and board complaints will be shared. Information will be provided on the appropriate types of coverage needed for equine veterinarians to assure broad protection against professional liability claims and board complaints. Actual closed claims will be utilized as examples to illustrate the importance of implementing strong risk management tools into equine practices to lower the incidence of malpractice claims and complaints. CLARK, DVM, MBA, CEO AVMA PLIT PROTECTING YOUR ASSETS PART 2: BUSINESS INSURANCE is discussion will give equine practitioners and the veterinary team tips on how to avoid business claims in their practices. Additionally, information will be provided on the appropriate types of coverage needed to assure broad protection, including important coverages for property and general liability and coverages unique to equine veterinary medicine and practice owners (loss of biologicals, damage caused by patients, mobile practice coverage, veterinary-specific workers compensation coverage and more).
