After a short break, Whistleblower has returned with an EP from a new artist calling himself Somnium. Alan Fitzpatrick, Reset Robot and Rhymos as individual artists have each either conquered or established themselves in their chosen sub-genre, falling under the house and techno umbrella. Collectively the DJs also head up a label called Whistleblower and their latest signee is already making all the right waves. Little is known about who is the man behind the alias, as it would appear the label has decided to keep things close to their chest. Apart from a press image of Somnium's face, there is no other information about him. But his music speaks volumes in terms of how talented this artist is. It's hard to pigeonhole the EP's opening track 'Young Giants' as it's got elements that lean towards tech house, but the style of the bassline leans more towards techno. Whatever the genre, the release certainly opens with a bang before the blissful second track 'Seraphim' sweeps in to lift the mood with its euphoric atmosphere. Global Underground's 'Nubreed' is back, this time with Theo Kottis in the hot seat. The Outlook Orchestra return to where it all began; London's Southbank Centre, for the next edition with the one and only Mala on curation duties on December the 2nd. GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: THEO KOTTIS Outlook's 20 piece orchestra joins forces with Mala to create entirely new interpretations of his own productions and remixes, as well as music from the vaults of Deep Medi Musik & DMZ and music from his album Mala In Cuba and his Peru inspired Mirrors. In addition to Mala's own productions, there'll be new workings of some of the most pivotal bass driven tracks of our generation. Huge tracks by his friends and peers such as The Bug, Skream, Benga, Kahn, Sir Spiro, Loefah, Goth-Trad and more. And of course, there'll be a few special guest vocalists joining too. Led by BASCA award-winning composer Tommy Evans, the 20-piece Outlook Orchestra features some of the UK's finest musicians - two drummers in an extended rhythm section, along with large string and horn sections. Players include rising stars in jazz, Nubya Garcia & Ashley Henry with Eddie Hick (Sons Of Kemet), on drums alongside Richard Spaven (Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra). Theo Kottis delivers a stellar two part mix album. Across the 30 tracks that make up his edition Kottis dives deeper into his style and includes killer cuts from Henrik Schwarz, Mathew Jonson, KiNK and loads more. Now he hasn't just gone for a mix that crams in all the biggest tracks from now, instead the Kottis has carefully crafted a mix of tunes that in his own words: "have played a part in my journey as a DJ in the last 2 years". This is just the latest of many artist achievements Kottis had made, with a tonne of tunes out on major labels spanning like Sasha's Last Night on Earth, Get Physical and Moda Black. He first caught people's attention as the resident at Edinburgh's Fly Clubs and Glasgow's Sub Club. Since then he's been topping charts and is soon to release his own artist album Beautiful Strangers.
