They reformed in 2009 for their 30th anniversary and now they're finally on the road again, amid the general enthusiasm! 'Things I've Done', written just before the birth of Natty's first child sees the reggae artist move into a confessional mode, as he reflects on his life in a moment of significant change. It explores the themes of exposure, shame, healing, growth and liberation, with stripped back visuals showcasing locations, including desolate wasteland, chosen to echo the explicit and implicit themes of the song. The video is also interspersed with multiple scarves being unravelled to finally reveal Natty, representing the unpacking oneself of labels and identities. Natty says: "Things I've Done is the most personal song and video I have ever chosen to release. It was written in a state of redemption just before my first child was born and the video was recorded by a close friend of mine. It's fitting that this is the final release before we celebrate 10 years of music with a new album and tour." ALBUM OF THE MONTH: PROTOJE Jamaican singer Protoje has emerged as a leader of the modern reggae revival movement with his latest album A Matter of Time. A Matter Of Time is the follow-up to the singer's critically acclaimed 2015 full-length LP, Ancient Future, which featured the hit single 'Who Knows' ft Chronixx, which has garnered over 69 million views on YouTube & 5.9 million SoundCloud streams. A Matter Of Time features Chronixx and Mortimer and contains the smash hit singles 'Blood Money', 'Truth & Rights', 'Bout Noon' and 'No Guarantees'. The LP was produced by Winta James (Damian Marley, Anthony B, The Mighty Diamonds) and recorded in Jamaica. The beats pull towards hip-hop, funk and trap. The album's atmosphere sometimes turns to trip-hop bathed in melancholic violins or rnb ('A Matter of Time'), allowing the singer to enjoy Protoje's crooner version of rap ('Bout Noon'). The guitars on the album are eclectic, revealing gimmicks more heard in rock music, you can also hear arpeggios latino and riffs western. For the rest of the tracks, they have some old-fashioned brass ('Truth & Rights'), a little bit of auto-tune ( in 'Mind of a King') and lyrics that bang, even when the music is sweet on 'Blood Money', a song about the violence of Jamaica today.
