irish in the pros • Rookie wide receiver Michael Floyd collected career highs in receptions (eight) and receiving yards (166) in Arizona's 27-13 loss at San Francisco Dec. 30 and ended the year 5-11. Floyd, who snagged a 37-yard touchdown pass in the finale, registered 45 catches for 562 yards and two scores in 2012. • Miami tight end Anthony Fa‑ sano suffered a head injury in the second half of a 28-0 loss to New England Dec. 30. He registered a career-high 41 receptions for 332 yards and five touchdowns in 2012 for the Dolphins, who finished the year 7-9 and in second place be‑ hind the Patriots in the AFC East. • Chicago Bears running back Armando Allen was inactive in the team's regular-season finale — a 26-24 victory at Detroit Dec. 30 — due to a knee injury. The sec‑ ond-year pro had appeared in the previous 15 games, totaling 124 yards and a touchdown on 27 car‑ ries for the Bears, which finished 10-6 but missed the postseason. • Washington Redskins offensive tackle Jordan Black was suspended for four games Dec. 17 for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances. The reserve sat out wins over Philadelphia and Dallas, as well as Washington's 2414 wild card playoff loss to Seattle. He'll miss the first game of the season next year to finish out his suspension. Black, a nine-year veteran who appeared in 14 games this season, put on 50 pounds after missing all of 2011. Black's team‑ mates have publicly stated that the failed drug test was for a pre‑ scribed medication the lineman has taken for a decade. • Seattle wide receiver Golden Tate nearly doubled his output from last season, recording career highs in receptions (45), yards (688) and touchdowns (seven). He had 35 receptions for 382 yards and three scores in 2011.
