Nyerges chose only common plants to put in the book to make them easier to fi nd. He left out plants endemic to very small regions; however, there are still plenty of plants he included. Featured plants are given a short introduction and in-depth explanations. Each entry is categorized under use (detailing which parts of the plants are edible), range, similarity to toxic species, status and tools needed. These six categories are useful when the reader wants to glean information at-a-glance and doesn't have the time or inclination to read the paragraphs. Anyone wanting to forage for wild plants instead of buying farmed ones can use this guide to get started. Not only does it give all this information for every plant in the book, but some plants also have extra "forager notes" that aid in the collection. The book even includes recipes to fi x the foraged plants into delicious meals. On the back cover, you'll fi nd a fi ve-inch ruler for quick measure- ments on the go. Note: It is diffi cult to use the index, as sometimes the scientifi c name is used and other times the common name is used. This makes it diffi cult for people to use the index when they know the name of the species and want to fi nd out if it is edible. The book, published by Falcon, can be found at a variety of local outlets. You can pick up a copy at Barnes & Noble for $14.79.
