British Seed Houses (BSH) has introduced
a new cultivar to its premium grade A20
sports mix to provide even greater choice
for groundsmen. Eugenius has exceptional
shoot density to complement wear
tolerance and aesthetics.
BSH can also provide a bespoke Your
A20 mix – as Andy Croft, head groundsman
at Derby County FC, did for the club's
training ground. Andy required more
sustained groundcover and cold tolerance
and, he says, Your A20 fitted the bill.
transplanted in 2011, Regro spread to
cover 790 cm2 in 16 months compared
to only 430 cm2 with other creeping
ryegrass. In addition, the top growth
was significantly less with Regro - which
means less cutting.
Field evaluation over the challenging
2012 season has shown Regro to be of
particular benefit in heavy wear situations
where good ground cover is essential.

Independent seed specialist groGreen has
announced the Regro creeping ryegrass
as "an exciting development that shows
considerable improvements to the
conventional specie" says the company's
Mark Sinclair.
Trials have shown that in excess of 90
per cent of the Regro creeping ryegrass
plants exhibit the growth habit that
enables lateral spread of the plant via
leader shoots to result in a very dense,
wear tolerant turf that will self-repair areas
damage from wear or divoting. Top
growth is also reduced as the plant uses a
proportion of its available energy
resources to grow laterally.
