A Minnesota native, she's spent her whole life surrounded by hockey and is excited to explore the game out East. Jorgensen had only worked at Colgate a week by the time she talked to RINK, and it was a whirlwind. "When I was at Bowling Green, we celebrated the 50 years of their ice arena. So definitely quite a drastic change from our 52-year- old rink there to the two-year-old one here at Colgate," Jorgensen says. "I'm looking forward to the season and getting into that." A Long Time Coming The Class of 1965 Arena has been in the works for more than a decade. Painter says a coach reported going to his first meeting about the facility in the early 2000s, and potential student recruits probably heard promises about the new arena for a while. The rink finally opened in 2016. More than 500 donors gave to the $37.8 million facility. Alumni from the class who graduated in 1965 were key funders.
