s the story goes, when
Pittsburgh native Bob
Arturo moved backed to his
hometown 20 years ago,
he wasn't at all satisfied with how the
in-house leagues were set up in the area.
"It was upside down," Arturo said. "You
went from an in-house league straight to
a travel program. We wanted to establish
something that gave kids another option.
That was our vision."
A couple of decades later, the in-house
league at Robert Morris University Island
Sports Center is thriving. What started
as a small operation with only two teams
has grown into a program that, at the
moment, has more than 550 kids.
"We opened up in October 1998 and
started the in-house league a year later,"
said Arturo, who serves as the Hockey
Director at RMU Island Sports Center.
