U.S. ICE RINK NEWS Updates from the United States Ice Rink Association 46 / NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2018 USICERINKS.COM 2018 Regional Training Program Season Recap Another successful Regional Training Program season concluded in early November, the final courses taking place at Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hill, Mich. This year we held 20 CIT/CRA courses at 13 different loca- tions around the country, with more than 230 students success- fully completing the courses. We congratulate the 75 members that earned a United States Ice Rink Association professional designation in 2018. We would like to thank the Facility Members that hosted training pro- grams, the instructors who contributed their time and expertise, and all of the students for their commitment to continuing their education and professional development. The 2019 Regional Training Program host applications will be sent to all Facility Members this December. For more information about hosting a 2019 program contact John Monteleone, director of education, at 719-538-1514 or johnm@usicerinks.com. 2018 Annual Board of Directors Meeting The United States Ice Rink Association Board of Directors met in Buffalo, N.Y., on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, for their annual meet- ing to discuss current business and set goals and objectives for 2019. During the meeting, the following topics were discussed: • NARCE Present & Future • Membership Benefits & Resources • Education & Recertification • Marketing & Social Media • Governance Policies & Procedures This meeting also provided our newly-elected board members their first opportunity to interact with current board members and contribute to the process of providing direction and leader- ship for the organization. 2018 Annual Membership Meeting On Oct. 31, the annual membership meeting was held in Buffalo, N.Y., at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Convention Center. USIRA Chief Operating Officer Jeff Theiler presented an opera- tions and financial report, and answered questions from the members present at the meeting.
