26 C O N V E N T I O N S P E A K E R S BOYD MARTIN Born and raised in Australia to Winter Olympic athletes Toy (Dorgan) and Ross Martin, Boyd relocated to the U.S. in 2007 to pursue his dream of competing in international three-day eventing. As his mother is an American citizen he has always enjoyed dual citizenship, and in 2009 he officially began representing the United States in international competition. Boyd competed on the U.S. team at the 2010, 2014, and 2018 World Equestrian Games and at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Today Boyd and his wife Silva, a Grand Prix dressage rider, own and operate their farm Windurra USA in Cochranville, Pa. TIK MAYNARD Tik Maynard began riding with the Vancouver Pony Club, in Southlands, British Columbia. After achieving his 'A' rating, he began competing in Modern Pentathlon, where he represented Canada at three World Championships and the 2007 Pan American Games. In 2008, Maynard began a journey to improve his riding. From Germany to Florida, Alberta to Texas, and Florida to New Jersey, Tik was willing to go wherever was necessary to learn from the best. Along the way, he discovered something more important: horsemanship. It is that idea that continues to motivate him. Today, Tik searches out knowledge from many sources, but his most important mentors are his parents and his wife, U.S. Team Member Sinead Halpin. Together they run Copperline Farm in Citra, Florida and are focused on developing quality young horses to be top level and team eventing competitors. Tik has always been a passionate book lover. He has written a children's story, been published by REAL magazine, won the Malahat Review Open Season Award, and has twice been shortlisted for the CBC Literary Awards for his non–fiction works. Tik recently published his first book, In the Middle are the Horsemen. He and his horse, Lance, have moved to the Preliminary level this year. Dan and his wife, Barb, own and operate Rabbit Mountain Equestrian Center, a multi-discipline boarding facility near Longmont, Colorado. Dan is a Colorado native and a retired engineer, having worked most of his career for Ball Aerospace on space flight instrumentation. DR.
