Twenty-two active nontraded REITs offered by 17 sponsors raised $1.3 billion in sec- ond-quarter 2018 for a total of $2.2 billion year to date, putting them on track to reverse the multi-year downward trend in fundrais- ing, and easily exceeding the $1.8 billion raised over the same period in 2017. e biggest fundraising through June 30, 2018, was for Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, racking up $1.35 billion during the first two quarters of the year. It was distantly followed by Griffin-American Healthcare REIT IV, with $122.74 million during the period. Perpetual-life nontraded REITs represented about 74 percent of the capital raised so far this year, and the industry remains focused on core, diversified real estate strategies.
