HOUSE / TECHNO 29 7 www.guestlist.net Issue 47 / 2013 MARCO BAILEY 2013 begins pretty well for one of Belgium's finest DJs. Two years after his critically acclaimed "Dragon man" LP, the talented DJ and producer announces the 100th release on his MB Elektronics label. This next chapter includes his experimental down-tempo electronica, alongside his firebrand pumped up tech-house and percussive techno club monsters. "High Volume" is an exciting snapshot of a man who likes to think outside the box and explore his attraction with every kind of music, creating a unique combination of underground sounds. "I love down-tempo, I love pumping tech-house, I love classical music…but my main focus is and stays TECHNO!" – Marco Bailey. Tracks like "the fox" or "the falcon" will make you understand why his energetic techno infused sound is so popular. By his next masterpiece, Marco Bailey manages to prove that electronic music in 2013 can be modern and inventive. Marco Bailey's "High Volume" is released on 11th February 2013. In 2008, he relocated to hub of all things cool, Berlin. Having previously worked in the music industry, it was here that his career as a full time DJ/ producer, and label owner kicked off. His label 'Off Recordings' has produced some cracking tracks since inception. Releases include artists such as; Huxley, Luca Doobie, Robosonic, and Birmingham's own Chris James. The OFF-sound has been described as Oldschool House/Techno with all other musical genres. Summed up simply – slamming! Some of Crom's most recognised tracks are collaboration's with the recently deceased, Martin Dawson. Dawson sadly died in November from a brain haemorrhage, a massive loss to house music. The pair racked up some quality sounds, such as 2010 EPs, Gonna Be Alright [OFF017] & About You [OFF020.] Another beauty of the output is that all releases are numbered and stamped; like the days of Factory Records in Manchester, no knowledge or recall of full names required; and they look cool to boot! As a DJ, Crom also gives good service to house. His sets are wide in their scope, working classic tracks such as Blondie with old school house, through to his deeper, signature vibe. Artists from the label played Lightbox in October 2012, and the tuneage was spot, spot on. If you still need convincing, check out his track with James Silk [OFF041.] Perfect Thing was released November 2012 and is a perfect demonstration of his unique talent for offering tracks that tick all the boxes. Kryptic Minds One of Us / Six Degrees One of house music's most respected and talked about producers of the last couple of years, Maya Jane Coles, has announced details of her new E.P, 'Easier to Hide', that will also constitute the first release on her brand new label, I Am Me. The E.P. features four tracks, and includes artwork designed by Coles herself. The title track of the E.P also gives us a taste of what to expect from Coles' debut album, as it has also been officially confirmed that 'Easier to Hide' will be one of the tracks on the hotly awaited forthcoming L.P, which is not expected to be released until spring of next year. The E.P. was released last month on Beatport only and has been making some noise.
