Let's begin today by looking at 1 Peter
1:23: "Being born again, not of
corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by
The WORD of God, which liveth and
abideth for ever."
That verse thrills me every time I read it.
However, most believers never grow
beyond that, and that's tragic! Spiritual
growth is different from natural growth.
Growth of the physical body is built into
natural DNA, but that's not the case
with spiritual growth. Look at Chapter 2,
verse 2: "As newborn babes, desire the
sincere milk of The WORD, that ye may
grow thereby."
We were born again by the seed of The
WORD, and babies need milk. The
Apostle Paul wrote about this in 1
Corinthians 3:1-2:
In contrast to the need for spiritual milk,
let's read what Paul wrote in Hebrews
5:12-14:
AND I, BRETHREN, COULD NOT SPEAK
UNTO YOU AS UNTO SPIRITUAL, BUT AS
UNTO CARNAL, EVEN AS UNTO BABES IN
CHRIST. I HAVE FED YOU WITH MILK, AND
NOT WITH MEAT: FOR HITHERTO YE WERE
NOT ABLE TO BEAR IT, NEITHER YET NOW
ARE YE ABLE.
