southern California," says Doug, "and boys are
certainly playing as often outdoor on the beach as
women are. From WAVE offering the additional space
and facility use, we've certainly expanded over the last
several years in our boys program, from camps and
clinics to open gym nights and expanding the number
of teams."
WAVE often uses social media to recognize current
players that are heading off to college to play volleyball
or highlight former club players that are excelling in
college.
One of the goals of WAVE Volleyball Club is to make
the game available to everyone. For instance, the club
hosted a sitting volleyball clinic early in 2018 with
members of the USA Paralympic Team. With over 100
people in attendance, it was a resounding success
with the young athletes wanting more.
"Brennan and other staff have relationships nationally
both at the collegiate level and the national level.
Some have played on the national teams. There are a
lot of discussions around where they can host certain
events. Because of our expansion, we're able to host
some of those events."
Programs like this are not usually
profitable, but that's not the
reason the club puts them on."
These are things we feel really
good about," says Doug. "These
are things we want to support, and
if there's an opportunity to use our
facilities for those types of things
