Our sincere thanks to all who are featured in our photos/videos to help us promote Your Club and its home! " "The vast majority of our families and youth players enjoy having their photos taken and shared at our community-serving and youth-filled soccer complex," says Milwaukee Kickers executive director Alvaro Garcia-Velez. "However, we have had a few instances when we were asked not to take photos of children." Reasons for such requests vary and range from religious, personal safety, and loss of income concerns. For example, a mother of a soccer camp participant contacted the soccer park after seeing her son pictured next to a sponsor dasher board that was posted on the facility's Facebook page. She was concerned because her son was a part-time model and was advised not pose next to any sponsor's collateral anywhere, so it would not narrow his future modeling opportunities. When directed to our policy section on our website she understood and agreed to let the photo of her son stay posted, however, she recommended that we make our policy more visible. So, we added copy and a hyperlink that reads, "Please take a few moments to review our Photo Release Policy" to all our online registration pages. That addition was beneficial for our members, as well as for our staff and club coaches, many of whom often work well beyond the facility for tournaments, practices, clinics, camps and outreach programs. "As an organization we are respectful of, and sensitive to, parental and guardian concerns when it comes their children and do our best to contain and manage the situation," says Alvaro. "They appreciate our efforts but realize that given the abundance of cell phones and other recording devices throughout the facility and grounds, keeping their children completely out of photos and videos is not realistic in most circumstances."
