All things potatoes
in a city known for
all things fun
By Dwayne Weyers and John Halverson
Co-chairmen of the Potato Expo 2019 Steering Committee
W
ho said potatoes weren't hip? We can
just feel the energy of bringing all things
potatoes to Austin, a city known for being
fun, hip and vibrant — ranked by Expedia as the
No. 1 "super cool U.S. city to visit"; Travel + Leisure
ranks Austin No. 8 on "The Best Cities for Food in the
United States"; and, Orbitz ranked Austin as one of
the top five "Best Music Cities in the U.S."
Austin is also known for innovation, and this week
we have the potato industry's most innovative minds
gathered together. We can't wait to see what new
ideas, creative thoughts and new imaginations come
out of this idea incubator for potatoes.
Over the next two days you will share ideas,
identify trends, examine research and connect
with
other potato professionals — all to help boost
your business in 2019 and beyond. We've expanded
the wildly popular Innovation Hub introduced last
year and now have two sets of breakout sessions —
the Process and Seed breakouts — which will
be held tomorrow morning. The Chip and Fresh
breakouts are tomorrow afternoon, so you have
flexibility in attending multiple sessions. We
have a new Q&A booth where you can talk with
