I FAN WEAR Above: The market provides unique opportunities for fans to show their support beyond traditional apparel. (Image courtesy Stahls' ID) Left: This market allows fans to feel connected to their local team and gives decorators endless opportunities to expand their customer base. (Image courtesy Transfer Express) have been lost, and the business has most likely been scooped up by a competitor. Additionally, color is king for sports, which means accurate color-matching is vital. Fortunately, according to Stahls' ID's Schward, high schools and colleges typically use Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) listed colors, which makes matching a breeze. For non-affiliated or club sports, matching can be a bit more problematic. In such instances, Pantone's color matching system often saves the day. With a little bit of research, planning and creativity, the fan market can provide endless opportunities for decorators, as well as a foot in the door with the school and club sports themselves. So, root on the fans rooting on their local teams, and gear up for a successful selling season. pw 84 | Printwear PW_FEB13.indd 84 February 2013 1/18/13 11:08 AM
