Feature COVER STORY 22 JAN-FEB 2019 MEETINGS & CONVENTIONS MCMAG-ASIA.COM RESPONSIBLE F&B & WELLNESS Incorporating healthy alternatives into event food and beverage is hardly a new phenomenon, and will soon be a must. A conscious approach to food – and food waste – will be a greater priority for planners and attendees in the year to come. Rising in tandem with this is the demand for wellness, which will see planners increasingly looking at oering sustainable and green coee breaks that allow delegates to recharge. "As clients look for deeper engagements with their delegates, organisers are turning to sustainability, wellness and corporate social responsibility as ways to achieve this. Over the past eight years, Marina Bay Sands has made great strides with our Sands ECO 360 green meetings programme, which has resulted in the number of green meetings growing from ve in 2013 to over 480 in 2018. We are able to take advantage of our venue's existing sustainable features and infrastructure to oer clients innovative green solutions for their meetings – such as 'zero waste to landll' events and sustainable food experiences. Clients also have the option of including a wellness component through our 'Meet Green Live Well' package. This provides delegates with a convenient and comprehensive green lifestyle experience, with added perks such as healthy menus, post-lunch tness activities, as well as wholesome snacks." – Mike Lee, vice president of sales, Marina Bay Sands PHOTO CREDIT: GETTY IMAGES Sustainable coffee served at the Schneider Electric Innovation Summit - the largest Sands ECO360 event hosted at MBS to date.
