Powertrain: The car is powered by a 545-horsepower 427ci V-8 crate engine built in-house by Classic Recreations. The car also features a Mass Flo fuel injection system, Tremec manual transmission, a Chassisworks 9-inch Fab 9 rear end with a 3:70 gear ration and posi traction. Built completely in-house at Classic Recreations by Engel and his team, the convertible received a full restoration, with Engel sanding it down to bare metal, then media-blasting it and replacing all of the beyond-repair parts with new components. In addition to the modern suspension system, a power rack-and-pinion steering system, a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and large Baer four-wheel disc brakes were added to give the car the handling of a modern sports car. Once the body was complete, Engel and his client decided to use a familiar shade of red for the car's paint job. "My favorite part of this build would be the color choice of an original 1967 Mustang Red," said Engel. "This really gives the car a different look." White racing stripes were also added to the bright red car. Under the hood of the convertible sits a 545-horsepower 427 cubic-inch crate engine built in-house at Classic Recreations. Engel added a Mass Flo Fuel Injection System and a pulley system by Concept One to the engine. The drivetrain also includes two BBK long tube ceramic-coated headers, Magnaflow mufflers and a dual 2.5-inch mandrel exhaust system. It was also important to Engel that the car included as many nods to its namesake, Carroll Shelby, as possible. For the interior, Engel installed vinyl-wrapped, hand-stitched Shelby Signature seats, as well as a center console with Shelby's signature embroidered onto it. The dashboard contains a set of Shelby Gauges by Classic Instruments, including a 160-mph speedometer. Other authentic Shelby Performance parts include a Shelby Le Mans racing gas cap, a set of G.T.500CR floor mats and five-point camlock seatbelts.
