The dash panels are available in three finishes: matte black, brushed aluminum and carbon fiber. They are made from a high-quality ABS composite and are offered with or without gauges and a wiring harness. The main dash panel is constructed as a two-piece assembly that forms a shroud around the steering column. This panel will accept a speedometer, tachometer and water and oil pressure gauges. A small, two-gauge cluster is also included that can be mounted on the dash to the right of the main cluster. The two-gauge pod is styled like a 1957 Chevy front fender and will house a fuel gauge and a volt meter. The panels are offered with either AutoMeter gauges or Classic Thunder Road's High Velocity or Concours gauges. The High Velocity gauges are programmable and offer peak recall on the tach. AMSOIL Inc. has added a new synthetic racing oil to its Dominator line. The Dominator SAE 60 Synthetic Racing Oil is designed to provide maximum horsepower without sacrificing engine protection and can stand up to extreme temperatures, said the company. It is heavily fortified with zinc and phosphorus anti-wear additives to provide additional protection against scuffing and wear in severe racing conditions. The oil's low pour point offers cold-start protection and provides less drag when the oil has not reached stable operating temperatures, according to the company. It will maintain its film strength, even at elevated operating temperatures and has a thermally stable synthetic chemistry that helps it resist the effect of intense heat found in racing applications. The new steering boxes are compact and lightweight, and are a direct replacement for the original manual steering box. They will allow for the use of the original steering column or aftermarket tilt column to be in perfect alignment with the box, said the company. The 13.6:1 ratio will work for highway cruising, as well as road course driving. The new 400 Series boxes use factory manual steering pitman arms, 3/4-inch-30 input shafts, 11/16-inch-18 pressure and 5/18-inch-18 return inverted flare hoses. A new DVD has been released by Street Rod Plans that teaches builders how to work with and paint fiberglass. "Fiberglass Body Work & Paint, Plus Chassis Prep with Bonus Metal Pickup Bed Construction" is the third DVD in the Street Rod 101 series featuring Bob Hamilton. The new DVD contains four hours of tips and tricks, and covers topics such as how to eliminate the imperfections found in most fiberglass bodies and how to prep the job. It also covers a wide range of chassis prep tasks, such as how to dress welds and how to test brake line pressure. There is also a special bonus feature that shows how to fabricate a rugged and functional sheetmetal pickup truck bed. Other topics covered in this DVD include how to prepare a body's gel coat, how to use cost-effective flat black spray paint on body panels, how to minimize scratch marks and maximize adhesion. The valve covers feature a cast-in "Chevrolet" in script, along with the traditional rounded corner design. The covers are available in four finishes: as-cast, polished, black and classic Chevy orange. They hold GM's "Official Licensed Product" seal, according to the company. The covers are standard perimeter mount and are designed to fit 1960–1986 small-block Chevy engines, including the 265, 283, 327, 350 and 400. The covers feature a heavy-duty sand-cast aluminum construction, internal baffles, thick sidewalls and gasket flanges that won't bend when the bolts are tightened, according to the company.
