n n n n INDUSTRY NEWS Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show Returns to Indianapolis Celebrating 15 years in 2013 The Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show will return to the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis March 14–16 under new ownership and management. National Business Media Inc. (NBM), Broomfield, Colo., acquired the Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show, along with Hotrod & Restoration magazine in late December 2012. NBM also publishes Performance Business, Restyling and RV PRO magazines for the automotive aftermarket and is a producer of trade shows and business-to-business publications for the graphics market as well. "We are excited to add Hotrod & Restoration to our automotive portfolio," said Robert H. Wieber Jr., president and CEO of NBM. "The magazine and show have a dedicated following, and we look forward to building on the established success HRR brings to our clients, exhibitors, readers and attendees." "The Hotrod & Restoration Trade Show in March is already shaping up to be a great event," noted Kent Bradley, group publisher of Hotrod & Restoration and Performance Business magazines. "Exhibitors and attendees can expect the same mix of exciting exhibits, beneficial seminars and industry networking that happens every year in Indy." Travis Weeks, publisher/producer of Hotrod & Restoration, will maintain his role with the publication and trade event. "I am really excited about this transition and I look forward to sharing a great 2013 and beyond," Weeks said. "What I like most is that NBM is very passionate about the markets it serves and has a huge emphasis on the automotive aftermarket." Information sharing at this year's show (as in the past) comes down to learning how to be better at building and restoring all kinds of hotrods and engines — while learning how to become a dependable resource for customers and learning to run a profitable business. A wealth of information is at each booth, where the tech people who know the products are available to answer questions and explain techniques. In addition, a comprehensive educational program is scheduled, that will be presented by the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA), a Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) Council. 6 This year, 45 one-hour education sessions are planned, which are free to all attendees. Manufacturers will present new product information as well as installation best practices. "Education Day is a core initiative for SEMA's Hot Rod Industry Alliance," says Zane Clark, Director of Councils for SEMA. "The program, which offers 40-plus one-hour sessions, provides show attendees FREE world class product training from industry-leading manufacturers over a two-day period. Attendees, many of whom are shop owners and builders, are given direct access to manufacturers and gain business-critical insight about new product development and installation best practices. The whole experience, from the education, to the training, to the invaluable networking truly results in an unparalleled learning experience."
