Since there are no trailers allowed inside Hitchcock Woods, riders, no matter
how young, hold their horses until it is time to compete, or they hang hay nets
on the trees.
William Howard III revitalized the show after taking over as chair
in 1996. He brought sponsors and top-level judges, as well as
establishing the Hitchcock Tent ringside, which pays homage to the old
Aiken Horse Show tradition of eating a picnic under the pines.
