In Memoriam: Pete Sohren
The SCORE family mourns the loss of veteran champion racer Pete Sohren of Glendale, Arizona. Sohren died as the result of a non-racing accident on January 18th while on the sand dunes behind the El Cortez Hotel in San Felipe. Reports say he was driving his two daughters Farrah and Paige in a UTV, to Farrah’s first local race qualifier when the vehicle was struck directly on the driver’s side by another UTV. Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene of the horrific accident.
Paige and Farrah, experienced considerable injuries and were transported the El Centro Regional Medical Center located in El
Centro, California for further evaluation.
Well known in the off-road industry as ‘Pistol’ Pete, Sohren was an experienced and well-liked desert racer who participated in several classes including SCORE Trophy Truck. Sohren also built race trucks and was a former SCORE Class 5 season point champion, and a media personality with numerous radio and TV appearances, the most recent as a host of the TV show, Truck Night In America. A remembrance for Pete will be held at the American Royal Palace, 1915 W. Thunderbird Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85029, February 23rd 2019.
