GEAR UP FOR 2019 WITH DICK'S SPORTING GOODS As the longest running and most successful equipment grant pro- gram in the country, Gear Up Minnesota has provided over $650,000 worth of equip- ment to youth hockey associations in Minnesota since 2010. The grant program focuses on supplying high-quality starter hockey equipment at the grassroots level with the goal of reducing barriers to hock- ey and enabling more kids to try the sport. Last season, DICK'S Sporting Goods became the official retailer of all Gear Up Minnesota equipment and provided grant recipients with $100 gift cards to stores in Minnesota. Association representatives had the opportunity to use the gift cards to purchase the specific equipment their association needed most to recruit new players and retain them. Applications for the 2019 Gear Up Minnesota equip- ment grant program will open in April. All youth hockey associations in Minnesota are eligible to apply. Gear Up Minnesota is made possible through generous financial contributions by DICK'S Sporting Goods, the Minnesota Wild Foundation, Sun Country Airlines, Northwest Designs and more.
