New Season Begins! Welcome to the 2019 SCORE World Desert Championship. We are all set to kick-off this new season with the 33rd SCORE San Felipe 250. This year’s race will now feature a newly expanded two-day contingency and a record course length now encompassing 349.9 miles of the most challenging terrain the San Felipe area can provide. See all the details in this special section. The work that goes into making this race and in fact, all the SCORE World Desert Championship series races, is a major undertaking that never stops for the SCORE International Staff. Special recognition must be given for the efforts made by the SCORE International staff that produces all aspects of the race operations for SCORE’s four race series on the Baja Peninsula. This office is comprised of General Manager/Race Director Abelardo "Jose G." Grijalva, General Manager/President Juan Tintos Funcke, Office Administrator Marco Durazo, Contingency Manager Jacky Rocha, and Course Personnel Director Hector Ponce. Their involvement throughout the year with representatives of the three levels of government, private sector representatives, racing teams, sponsors, and race fans is critical to the successful operation of SCORE on the Baja Peninsula. This involves efforts with municipal authorities and business sector representatives of the host cities, as well as State Officials from Tourism and Public Safety among others. Their work involves key aspects of the races with federal government offices including customs and immigration, military, environmental, and communications along with media representatives, political organizations. There is also a strategic relationship with Ejido representatives and Private Property Owners that SCORE races operate through. Their vast experience both in racing as well as government provides the ideal insight and connections in order to insure the success and constant innovation for SCORE to continue organizing world-class racing events for the next 50 years! Exciting news from FORD with the re-introduction of the fabled FORD Ranger! We take a look at the product development lineage and the race heritage efforts with SCORE that the Ranger truck platform was the leading brand. We also have a first look at a couple SEMA project vehicles that will showcase the usage opportunities this model can now provide. Enjoy the issue and see you at the races. Jim
