SCORE Issues Information On Stella 3 System The Stella 3 system utilized by SCORE International, is an in-vehicle indicator that is designed to alert vehicles in the course that they are approaching each other. The Stella 3 improves safety on the course, allowing one racer to indicate to another if they intend to pass, and acknowledgment of the message. SCORE had an instructional video on how to properly use the Stella 3 system that can give racers help on how to use and remain safer on the course. SCG Vehicles Recreates The Baja Boot Race and performance car builder Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) is creating a modern version of the Baja Boot that Steve McQueen and Bud Ekins drove in 1967. The Chevy powered vehicle was purpose built for Baja racing and SCG’s modern version will compete at this year’s 52nd SCORE Baja 1000 race in November 2019. According to SCG, the inspiration came during a casual conversation between the Glickenhaus family and car designer Michael Young. The idea was to build a military grade, luxury, take-you-anywhere SUV, but that could still handle the rigors of racing in the prestigious SCORE Baja 1000. Pete Sohren Honored by The Desert Assassins In San Felipe During the 33rd San Felipe 250, Cameron Steele and the Desert Assassins team are wrapping their number 16 SCORE Trophy Truck in yellow and the number 2, in honor of Pete Sohren. “There is no doubt Pete is one of most recognizable faces ever in our sport. He carried himself with transparency and spoke with utter honesty,” said Cameron Steele. “My goal is to do Pete proud by representing the yellow we shared and which he made famous, and to run his #2 and his iconic logo.” Steele raced with Sohren and became friends over the years. “He was a straight shooter to a fault and a great lover of the spirit of our sport. He considered himself a gatekeeper to the way we grew up racing in Baja. Pete invited me to my first Trophy Truck race and we teamed up over the next few years in his iconic yellow #2 race truck. I was proud to race with him then, and over the last decade, I’m proud to call him my friend, even if he did need a kick in the ass now and then. The SCORE San Felipe became an important race for Steele to honor Sohren as they both enjoyed the area and racing there. “Pete loved San Felipe and I do as well. The place is a magical off-roaders paradise and hallowed ground for BAJA racers. Pete loved our sport and we want to show him the love we all have for him. The Desert Assassins would like to ask fans to join us by showing their love in remembering Pete by wearing yellow t-shirts or other yellow items to SCORE’s 2019 San Felipe.
