There are some years
where it would be natural for a school not to
sign a quarterback. The
2013 recruiting cycle was
"supposed" to be one of
them at Notre Dame.
It was to be a repeat
of 2009, when the Fighting Irish couldn't ink a
QB after landing backto-back five-stars in 2007
(Jimmy Clausen) and
2008 (Dayne Crist).
Despite the presence
of projected four-year
starter Everett Golson
(2012-15) and 2012 fivestar recruit Gunner Kiel,
high school junior Malik Zaire felt at home
when he sat in the meeting room with the other
quarterbacks last March
during spring sessions.
