Argh. Shouldn't technology be able to help you serve up mundane details more easily? Chatbots have been touted for scenarios like this for years, but until recently experiences have been mixed— spectacular promise on one hand, but also cringe-worthy stories of bot fails. Today though, many observers say the technology has moved from hype to practical territory. In other words, maybe they can't fool you into thinking they're human (yet) but when asked via quick texts, chatbots should be able to text back hundreds of attendees with the Wi-Fi password in a flash. CHATBOTS SHOULD YOU ADD A DIGITAL ASSISTANT TO YOUR EVENT TEAM? WHY A CHAT-BASED PLATFORM? The huge popularity of messenger apps is the driver here, says Chuck Elias, CEO and co-founder of Utah-based Sciensio: "That's a key part of what a bot is about, being able to use this amazing channel—98 per cent of texts are read, and most are read in under five seconds!"
