The 20-point loss matched that of eight years ago, when the Boilermakers lost 58-38 to Minnesota in Mackey Arena. Former Boilermaker coach Nell Fortner was in Mackey Arena for the game as part of ESPN2���s broadcast team. In 1996-97, Fortner guided Purdue to a share of the Big Ten Championship in her only season in West Lafayette, three years before coaching the USA to the gold medal in the Sydney Olympics. Purdue���s student section supported supervisor of operations Terry Kix, who is battling stomach cancer, with cutout cardboard head shots.
