Gold and Blacks Womens Hoops Lineup
The
Starters
The
Reserves
KK Houser 22
G 5-6 Jr.
Although her shooting
percentage isnt ideal
34 percent on 10-of-29
the last two games
Houser has tried to be
more aggressive as some
of her Boilermaker teammates slump offensively.
She was huge in the second half of the
Wisconsin game, scoring 17 of her 20 to
rally Purdue. But, as is typical for the point
guard, shes prone to mistakes too, and
had nine turnovers with only four assists
in the two games.
Courtney Moses 15
G 5-7 Jr.
Moses confidence is
shot. In the last two
games, Purdues leading
scorer has totaled only
two points, hitting one
of her three field goal
attempts at Wisconsin.
She scored none for
the third time this season in the home
loss to Iowa during which she missed all
seven of her attempts. On an open three
late, she appeared to know it was badly
missing before the ball left her hands, as
she followed it toward the basket for the
rebound.
Dee Dee Williams
20
G 6-0 Jr.
Williams did a solid job
guarding Iowas Jaime
Printy, keeping the Iowa
star from hurting Purdue
offensively; she had
only six points on 1-of-8
shooting. But Williams
needs to be an offensive threat, like she
was at Wisconsin with six points, four
boards and three assists. She had six rebounds vs. Iowa but didnt score, missing
all four of her field goal attempts.
Sam Ostarello 32
F 6-2 Sr.
Ostarello might be the
only Boiler playing with
consistency. At times,
she could score more
she had only six points
at Wisconsin but
she led Purdue vs. Iowa
with 15 points. And her
11 rebounds made for her ninth doubledouble of the season. Ostarello seems to
have a good grasp of how to score against
bigger opponents, by simply shooting
short jumpers rather than charging into
them.
Hayden Hamby 10
G 5-7 Fr.
After seeing a few minutes
of action in most of Purdues
Big Ten games, Hambys been
on the bench for the last two.
She last played vs. Michigan,
but for only a minute after
she was pulled for passing up a shot attempt and instead turning the ball over.
Shes a shooter and needs to take advantage of opportunities when she gets them.
Joslyn Massey 21
F 6-0 Fr.
Massey has not played recently. The physical wing has
room to grow offensively
during the offseason, both in
understanding of schemes
and in shooting consistency.
Liza Clemons 23
F 6-2 So.
Clemons remains the biggest
mystery of the season. She
played only a minute at Wisconsin, enough time to pick
up a foul and miss a shot. But
she was on the bench again
for the loss to Iowa. In the preseason, Coach
Sharon Versyp called her an X-factor, but
shes been of little factor most of the year.
Camille Redmon 42
C 6-4 So.
Redmon didnt play in the
last two games. Perhaps she
could have been used sparingly against the Hawkeyes,
especially considering Iowa
had such ease in scoring in
the paint.
Chantel Poston 43
SF 5-10 Sr. (5)
After a breakout game
against Michigan, Poston was
scoreless against Wisconsin in
nine minutes, then had only
two points and a couple assists in 13 against Iowa. Shes
just not recovering the way it
was hoped from the knee injury in November. The likelihood that she returns to top
form this season seems remote.
Taylor Manuel 50
PF 6-2 Fr.
Manuel struggled to finish
in the last two games, making only four of her 16 field
goals against Wisconsin and
Iowa. But both have post
presences much taller than
Manuel, forcing her to use
quickness over power to find openings. She
rebounded well, however, with 10 in the
last two games.
Drey Mingo 24
F 6-2 Sr. (6)
Mingo got going in the
second half at Wisconsin,
scoring 10 of her 12 to
help Purdue rally. And
that carried over to Iowa,
when she scored 14 on
6-of-11 from the field.
She has a tendency to
miss too many from in close, and that hurt
the Boilermakers in the first half against
the Hawkeyes. Purdues interior defense
is also lacking, and Mingo could stand to
step up there.
April Wilson 25
G 5-7 Fr.
Wilsons had tendency to hit
big shots for the Boilers, and
she did in the comeback win
at Wisconsin. She also briefly
sparked Purdue in the second
half when she hit a jumper
then a three-pointer on consecutive possessions to get Purdue to within six against
Iowa. She also finished with only a couple
turnovers in 25 minutes.

Bays and Thornton are redshirting
as both recover from offseason
knee surgeries.
