weekend. Andie Varsho batted .467 for the weekend, scored a pair of runs and drove in five. Ashley Burkhardt and Lindsey Rains scored six runs apiece over the course of the five games as both batted above .350 for the weekend. Nikki Nunn Tennis teams sweep weekend duals The men���s and women���s tennis teams combined for a 3-0 weekend in dual competition. The women���s team scored an upset victory on the road over No. 15 Notre Dame, 4-3. The Boilers and Irish split the six singles matches, but Purdue was able to score the doubles point, and win the match, by scoring in two of the three matches. The men made quick work of visiting Wright State and Valparaiso, scoring a pair of 7-0 victories. The men are back in action on Saturday when they host Arkansas, and the women host Kansas State on Sunday. track dominates Invite There were a number of individual winners in the Boiler Invitational as the track and field team played host to a number of men���s and women���s teams. Twyla Winfrey led 11 individual winners on the women���s side as the Boilers dominated the field. Nikki Nunn headlined the field Andie Varsho competition, posting a win in the long jump and a second-place finish in the triple jump. Purdue posted wins in the 400-, 600-, 800-, and 3,000-meter runs as well as the mile competition, 60-meter hurdles and 1,600 relay. The Boilers were equally dominating in field events, scoring wins in the high jump and pole vault as well as Nunn���s win in the long jump and Cierra Brown���s win in the triple jump. Dani Bunch finished second in the weight throw and posted a third-place finish in the shot put. The men���s team also was paced by strong performances in the field events. Purdue was led by Chukwuebuka Enekwechi���s wins in the weight throw and shot put and Geoff Davis��� win in the high jump. The Boilers had the top four finishers in the shot put and had four other events with at least two top-five finishers. Eric Harris and Andrew Kendrick added individual victories in track events in the 200 and 400, respectively. The competition did not have team scoring. Men���s golf starts slow in Puerto Rico The men���s golf team continues competition today with second-round action in the Puerto Rico Classic. The Boilers got off to a slow start in Sunday���s first round, posting a 308. Purdue entered Monday���s play in 15th place. Adam Schenk paced Purdue with a first-round 75. The Puerto Rico Classic concludes play with Tuesday���s third round. Wrestling splits at national duals No. 16 Purdue split its two dual matches over the weekend at the NCWA National Duals in Columbia, Mo. The Boilers (15-6, 5-3) scored a 20-16 win over No. 20 Wyoming before falling 2715 to Missouri. Brandon Nelson helped lead Purdue over the weekend, scoring a pair of wins in the dual matches at 141 pounds.
