Happiness on Wheels Feeling down? Let’s roll. n BY NANCY SANCHEZ It has been said that health and happiness go together like a bicycle and a bicycle path, like a summer afternoon in the park and a bicycle, like a sunny day and a shiny bicycle or a picnic lunch packed in the wicker basket mounted in the front of a smooth-riding bicycle and your best friend riding beside you. Ok, so I was the first one to say those things in that order. The point is that sum- mertime and bicycle riding are inseparable. It’s the season when a smile and a feeling of blissful freedom on two wheels are some- times all that is needed. Some might say the traditional ways of socializing and physical fitness are a thing of the past. The natural human interactions seem (to some) to be lacking pizzazz for entertaining the electronically indulged minds of today. Nonetheless, this time-honored past time will never be out of style or become unhealthy. “When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race.” —H.G. Wells Yes, the rampant concern for healthy life- styles is quite in fashion. Trendy shops filled with organic grown this-and-that hosting labels promoting the absence of pesticides or any-cides as if nonappearance on a label makes the healthy difference. Grocery aisles permeate with the health police.
