Among the more recent eorts is the multi-million-dollar enhancement of Orchard Hotel Singapore. Fresh o a nine-month refurbishment, the hotel's 260 guest rooms, grand ballroom, conference centre, lobby and dining concepts – The Orchard Cafe and Bar Intermezzo – now sport a fresh look. The pièce de résistance, its Grand Ballroom, has been tted with two impressive oor-to-ceiling LED walls, touted as the rst in Singapore, as well as a new foyer with oating orchid-inspired chandeliers. Another recent makeover was at Mandarin Orchard Singapore, which upgraded the technology prowess of its main venue. Its pillar-less Grand Mandarin Ballroom now features an intelligent lighting system that will oer customisable colours and patterns, new carpeting with neutral tones and 65-inch digital screens at the foyer. Meanwhile, the 132-year-old Raes Singapore is expected to reopen from August 1 after an extensive restoration over two years. The heritage hotel will feature new amenities such as a 300-guest Grand Ballroom, a new spa in the Arcade, as well as usher in refreshed dining concepts. For intimate events, The St. Regis Singapore's newly opened standalone event venue, Caroline's Mansion, lends itself the air of a stately residence. Formerly an indoor tennis court, it has been repurposed into a venue with a nine-metre-tall ceiling. Hotels are putting the focus on transforming their venues into sleek and high-tech spaces. WORDS NAOMI NEOH Reinvigorated For Business The 262sqm ballroom can be sectioned into three separate spaces, with two retractable projection screens at each side of the room, as well as elevated projectors, chandeliers and perimeter LED lights that are tucked within a two- metre alcove. For large-scale events, Equarius Hotel in Resorts World Sentosa has unveiled seven banquet rooms that can accommodate 1,400 guests comfortably, and a versatile high-ceiling ballroom with cream-coloured walls and ne crystal chandeliers for over 1,360. Ten minutes away from Changi Airport, Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore is tipped for a soft opening in December 2019. The urban resort will have 198 guest rooms and suites, as well as extensive sports and recreation facilities, including two championship golf courses. The resort also features a range of indoor and outdoor venues for meetings and events, such as a 750sqm ballroom, two meeting rooms and a boardroom, eight pavilions, three event lawns and a rooftop terrace. SWITCH UP THE PARTY • Nightlife gets a fun update with the opening of Marquee, Singapore's largest nightclub at over 2,300 sqm. The newest addition to Marina Bay Sands has plenty of eye-catching details such as an indoor ferris wheel and three-storey-high slide. • Avenue, a speakeasy-style lounge, will open doors in May offering a more low-key intimate venue. It will include fun features like a mini bowling alley and arcade with vintage pinball machines.
