55 MAY-JUN 2019 MEETINGS & CONVENTIONS MCMAG-ASIA.COM Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre MITEC gets upsized Come September 2019, there will be more options for spaces at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. Professional conference and meetings planners will be able to add more meeting rooms to their list as MITEC completes two additional rooms. The rooms will be located on level 1A of the building, which can be reconfigured for theatre- and banquet-style seating. The theatre-style arrangement accommodates up to 1,200 people, while the banquet-style seating accommodates up to 650 people. In a slightly smaller setup, the other room can accommodate up to 400 people for theatre-style and 240 people for banquet arrangements. These rooms have the flexibility to be used as smaller exhibition spaces closer to the other conference rooms. Upon completion, the business readiness of the centre will encompass 11 exhibitions halls, one ballroom, 13 meetings rooms, two outdoor amphitheatres and two new multi- purpose rooms. In terms of meeting venues, the hotel comes with 18 intuitively designed function spaces spread over four floors, all supported by the latest audio-visual technology. These facilities and amenities allow Swiss- Belresidences Rasuna Epicentrum to host a full range of corporate and social events, such as high- level conferences, business meetings and private evening parties. Infinity Convention Centre Sydney's new crowning glory Sydney's inner south district will soon be joined by a new convention centre in September that will open as part of a A$575 million mixed-use development. Crown Group took the wraps off the 430-capacity Infinity Convention Centre at Green Square. With its iconic looped design by Koichi Takada Architects, the 20-storey development will house 326 luxury apartments and a 90-key hotel. The centre is part of a A$13 billion transformation of Green Square, which is adding a flurry of new developments such as a train station and aquatic centre. Last year, it was joined by the Green Square library, a perfect co-working or study space for visitors. Adding vibrant options for pre- and post-event is a new street and dining precinct with wine and coffee bars. The centre has spaces that can cater to classroom style-seating for up to 65, cocktail events for 450, sit- down dinners for 370 and auditorium events for 430 people. Food and beverage needs for large-scale functions can also be catered for right from its central kitchen facilities. Green Square will be home to Infinity Convention Centre and 326 luxury apartments.
