or be a true 5-technique defensive end. Thats what Im used to playing in high school. He said he gives his defensive linemen a lot of freedom and that its a very basic defense more than anything that just allows you to really fly around and make some big plays on the ball. Thats what I like doing. I have a real good motor and I think Im a good pass-rusher. I think I did well with run defense this year and Im starting to put on some weight, getting up to 240 right now. Its coming along. Im starting to fill in my frame. Its starting to come along. But Im definitely a pass-rusher and my run defense is coming along. DEZWAN POLK-CAMPBELL Linebacker 6-4, 215 M uch like Panfil, Polk-Campbell is tall, long and fast. Only hell play linebacker, manning an outside position, at least initially in his career. Hes everything you want in an athletic linebacker, linebackers coach Marcus Freeman said. Hes a kid that in two years, were going to look back and say, Wow, this kid has done some great things. Hes a smart kid, just a raw, athletic kid who can make things happen. Polk-Campbells receiver-like speed helped him rack up 93 tackles as a senior at Whetstone High School in Columbus, where Hazell and Freeman first recruited him at Kent State before the move to Purdue gave them the selling points to actually get him. A sprinter for Whetstones track team, Polk-Campbell claims 4.6-type 40yard speed. He also played receiver for Whetstone in important situations. It is his strength and not just up and down, Whetstone coach Don Puff said of Polks speed. He has good football speed, good lateral movement, as well as going up and down the field. He finds the ball fast, has a very good eye for it. Bill Tijerina Dezwan Polk-Campbell played both ways in high school, but he is projected to be a linebacker for the Boilermaker defense. Maybe into a defensive tackle, a position that would suit Replogles high-intensity style well, Ullery said. Hes a really blue-collar player, which I think is a huge compliment to any player, said Ullery, whos been at Centerville since 1977. Hes an old-school, physical, passionate football player. He could have played in any era for us. Ive been here a long time and he could have played 35 years ago for us and fit right in. Hes just a football player from a football family. I think hes going to end up growing into an inside (lineman) on defense, Supporting Our Local Community Since 1965 JAKE REPLOGLE Defensive End 6-4, 240 T heres no telling what Purdue might have in time with the 6-4, 240-pound defensive line recruit from Ohio power Centerville High School. As a junior at Centerville, Replogle was just 6-2, just a little more than 200 pounds, and played linebacker. The following winter, he went through a growth spurt and played his senior season again mostly at linebacker at closer to his current size. Hell get even bigger, Centerville coach Ron Ullery said, of Replogle, wholl come to Purdue as a defensive end. Jakes a really good player now, but hes going to be way better in the future, Ullery said. Right now, hes probably 6-4-anda-half and probably close to 250. And hes still got peach fuzz on his face and hes wearing braces. Hes going to get way bigger. Hes got enormous room to grow. The Areas Premier Orthopaedic and Sportsmedicine Center Robert J. Hagen, M.D. Peter J. Torok, M.D. Michael E. Highhouse, M.D. Daniel J. Daluga, M.D. Mark C.
