Photos by Tom Campbell Courtney Moses and April Wilson battle for a loose ball in the Georgia Tech game. Purdue has been scrappy in the early going, and Wilson has been steady despite it being her rookie season. The Gold and Black Sound womens basketball pep band has been wearing Team Terry shirts for much of the conference season, lending support to director of basketball operations Terry Kix. During the Iowa game, the Play4Kay event brought out pink shirts throughout Mackey Arena and photos of Kix. Terry is a part of our family, music and sports, GABS director Pamela Nave said. We wanted her to know that we are here for her and that we love her. For more on Kixs battle with stomach cancer, see Page 54. Never one to back down from contact, despite the fact she has played with a shoulder injury much of the Big Ten season, Sam Ostarello has been a double-double machine in scoring and rebounding for much of the conference slate. Ostarello, a 6-foot-2 senior, entered the final week of the season leading the league in rebounding (10.0). Purdue hasnt had a player lead the conference in that category since Joy Holmes did it in 1990-91. GBIprint.com GoldandBlack.com Gold & Black IllustrateD volume 23, issue 4 47
