2013 football recruiting issue Starting Fresh Florida Transfer Quarterback Jacoby Brissett Will Redshirt And Then Try To Lead The Pack To The Top J By Ryan Tice acoby Brissett has experienced a world of change following his transfer from Florida to NC State. The 6-4, 225-pound quarterback has had to adjust to colder weather and even encountered a few snowfalls, but he is starting to settle in at his new home in Raleigh. Its good, Im getting to know a couple of players and getting to know my way around, he said. In the beginning, it was a little rough, just from the weather standpoint. The first day I was here, it snowed, but its been good; Ive got a jacket now, so thats good. The quarterback left the Gators in early January looking for a fresh start, and Brissett thinks he found that in his new home. He arrived on campus at the beginning of the second semester, and will take part in spring practices with the Wolfpack. I thought he was a guy that was somewhat Cam Newton-like with freakish athletic ability. If he went to a school that developed him as a passer, he was going to be great. The kid could throw the ball through a brick wall and he could run a 4.6 40 at 225 he was a great athlete. I think a [first-year] coach getting a quarterback like this is like a gold mine falling out of the sky right into your lap. After deciding to transfer, he quickly narrowed his focus to NC State and West Virginia. The Pack won out, thanks to the signal-callers longtime relationship with Doeren. The process for me and him was kind of easier, Brissett said. It was like weve been talking for a long time. When he was at Wisconsin, I had that same relationship with him. Doeren nearly secured a commitment from Brissett, a quarterback who threw for 2,743 yards and 32 touchdowns against just one interception as a prep senior, the first time around when the Army All-American March 2013 45 44-46.FB Transfers.indd 45 2/26/13 1:14 PM
