Competition was divided into three segments, the Excel National Final, Excel Open events and Compete USA events. Having all three competition segments together in one weekend allowed parents and skaters to see what competition and recognition could look like further down the competitive pipeline. The National Excel Final included skaters at the Excel Preliminary Plus- Senior levels and was judged using the International Judging System (IJS). After registering for the Excel Competition Series in January, skaters earned points for their placements in designated Excel Series competitions, and the top six skaters at each level from each section were extended an invitation to compete at the Excel National Final, attend the National Finalist camp and perform in a high-energy exhibition at the start of the Compete USA portion of the competition on Sunday. For Preliminary Plus competitor Sadie Langsdorf, earning a spot at the National Excel Final was an accomplishment in itself. As the first skater to take the ice for the inaugural competition, the 11-year- old was excited to represent the St. Paul Figure Skating Club on a larger stage and was focused on soaking up the Finalist Camp experience. In addition to the 118 skaters competing at the National Excel Final, another 200-plus skaters traveled to Coral Springs for Excel Open and Compete USA events and to take part in the affiliated camp experience. Excel Open events included competitors at the Excel Beginner- , The Excel National Festival brings together skaters of all skill levels and backgrounds.
