Part of the facility's success comes from working
in the community and empowering staff to make
decisions. "There was a kid that had cancer," says
Kanish. "My manager got together with that kid and
that organization. We donated the time and said,
'Come to a charity event here. We will host it, and
whatever you make is yours, so you can put it towards
charity.'
"I didn't even know about it. I was just blown away.
Kudos to my team."
Kanish also credits the facility's success to his team's
attention to detail, especially when it comes to the look
and maintenance of the facility. "You walk in today, and
you think it's brand new. They're just little things; little
things add up a lot. But it's maintenance, just keeping
up with the place."
"We put a lot into having a very clean facility," says
Owen.
Kanish and Owen also attend USIndoor's annual
Conference, which Kanish says has been a key to their
success. "It was instrumental for us, because we got
a chance to meet owners and folks that have been
doing it." Had they not attended, Kanish thinks they
would have made common mistakes, but netwoking
with other operators helped him avoid those mistakes
in Reno.
Programming has diversified since the facility opened.
