PLATINUM PRACTICE HILL COUNTRY EQUINE Spo ight Nestled among the live oaks and bald cypress just north of San Antonio sits Hill Country Equine. Herding dogs guard the tree-lined driveway past the main building where the office and main exam area are housed. Nearly a dozen stalls and several acres of pasture surround the clinic. Hill Country Equine focuses on sports medicine and lameness, while also serving as a referral center for general practitioners. Since its establishment in 2000, the Hill Country Equine staff has been dedicated to providing quality care to equine athletes and ensuring that they continue to perform at top level. The facility offers shock- wave therapy, joint injections, pre-purchase evaluations, digital radiographs, stem cell and regenerative medicine, ultrasounds and orthopedic surgery. Inside the office, photos from clients and awards reflect the commitment and empathy of Dr. Dutton and his technicians. An interior room hosts the degrees and accolades of Hill Country Equine's owner and sole practitioner, Dr. David M. Dutton, DVM, DACVS. Dr. Dutton completed his undergraduate degree and veterinary medical school at New Mexico State University and Colorado State University, respectively, and has been a licensed DVM since 1995. Upon graduation, Dr. Dutton completed a large animal internship at the University of Georgia, as well as a three-year surgical residency at Texas A&M University; after completing his residency, Dr. Dutton remained on staff at Texas A&M as a large animal lecturer and became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000. That same year, he established Hill Country Equine and began practicing as a board-certified surgeon.
