TIJUANA, A DESTINATION THAT WILL SURPRISE YOU According to the World Travel Awards, Tijuana is one of the best cities to vacation, a recognition granted by hospitality experts that include the World  Council of Travel and Tourism. Tijuana ́s culture and culinary offers the warmth of its people and with more than 300 events that take place throughout the year, manages to attract an estimated 12 million-tourists annually. In the downtown historic district of Tijuana visitors can have fun and enjoy delicious food. The Plaza Santa Cecilia is also located here, where music groups and mariachis converge. Several museums such as the Tijuana Wax Museum, Tijuana History Museum, the Wrestling Museum, the Collector's Museum, and the Sports Hall of Fame offer a variety of ways to experience and see Tijuana’s history and culture.  Visitors to Tijuana can walk along Avenida Revolucion, a shopping area where you can find numerous handcrafted items from different regions of Mexico. The area also has restaurants that offer a variety of local cuisine, or one can wander off into various passageways where you can find quaint coffee shops and an endless amount of merchandise that you will not find anywhere else.  Also located on Avenida Revolucion, is Caesar's restaurant, where the internationally famous Caesar's salad was created. Guests can even watch the preparation of their salad, while the chef explains step by step procedures and the original ingredients made in the same manner as when it was first created in the 1920s. One of the things currently bringing attention to  Tijuana is its multifaceted cuisine. Here the type of food ranges from urban cuisine such as grilled meat tacos, birria, fish, shrimp and grilled octopus, to international restaurants with dishes that pair well with a good local wine or craft beer, of which there are more than 400 brands in the area. Tasting rooms are mainly in the Downtown area and Zona Río, where they also sell exquisite food. In Playas de Tijuana, you can walk along the beautiful shoreline or take a stroll along its boardwalk and enjoy a coffee by the sea like many of the residents. If you want to immerse yourself into the local culture, visit the Tijuana Cultural Center, which is the most important cultural precinct in the Northwest. Here you can get an adrenaline fix by attending any game from one of the city’s three professional teams; the Xolos soccer team, Zonkeis basketball, and Bulls baseball team. In order to provide a better service to tourists and visitors , the city government has been training the tourist police with English classes, and most recently, Mandarin Chinese to better communicate with tourists. These multi-lingual trained officers have distinctive bracelets that distinguish them from other officers, so that they are easily identified by visitors from these countries.  In addition, the city is conducting a workshop called, "Hospitality And Experience For Tourists,” aimed at first-hand contact personnel with visitors such as the tourist section police, taxi drivers, waiters and tour operators. A strong effort is being made to professionalize the tourist police and offer better service to those who visit us from other states in Mexico, the United States and other regions of the world. In Tijuana the city, it’s government and people constantly professionalizing with the purpose of providing quality care to those who visit us in order to make your stay in the city a pleasant one.
