10 POTATO GROWER | SEPTEMBER 2019 New Products BASF Revysol Fungicide BASF has received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration for Revysol fungicide, its newest active ingredient. The first and only isopropanol azole of its kind in the market, the active ingredient provides fast-acting and long-lasting disease control for a broad range of crops and disease combinations. In recent BASF trials, Revysol fungicide has shown exceptional biological performance against several economically significant diseases, including Cercospora leaf spot in sugarbeets and powdery mildew in grapes. Revysol fungicide offers unique benefits when compared to DMI fungicides, including application for a wide variety of crops including corn, soybeans, grapes, potatoes and sugarbeets; faster fungicide uptake by the plant; and excellent rainfastness and low water solubility. The active ingredient will be available in several customized products, including Provysol fungi- cide in potatoes, sugarbeets and peanuts. Revysol and its related product brands will be available to growers for the 2020 planting season. Growers can learn more at www.agriculture.basf.com. John Deere Specialty Tractors John Deere has added a new tractor to its specialty lineup—the premium high-crop 5115RH—and made ergonomic updates to its model year 2020 5GN and 5GV tractors. John Deere offers a new 5GV cab option for 5GN tractors, and a new optional front hitch for 5GNs. The new 5115RH with base 230/95 R40 tires provides 26.9 inches of crop clearance to the drawbar and 28.6 inches of clearance to the center of the axle. Optional factory-installed integrated guidance, documentation and telematics, minimizes crop damage in fields where bedded crops are planted. Operators can dial in optimal ground speeds between .28 and 30 miles per hour using the John Deere Command 8 Transmission with creeper function. This allows the tractor to maintain constant low speeds required for planting, harvesting or prepping beds for crops. The tractor is powered by a John Deere engine with 115 horse- power, 8 percent power bulge and 36 percent torque rise to easily pull drawn implements in the field. AMVAC Assure II Herbicide Growers have a tool to control volunteer corn and grasses and improve crop establishment, quality and yield. Assure II herbicide, now available from AMVAC, is a selective herbicide that controls annual and perennial grass weeds in a number of crops including canola, cotton, chickpea, dry beans, dry and succulent peas, lentil, snap bean, soybean, sugarbeet, sunflower and Enlist field corn. In fields currently planted with Enlist corn hybrids, Assure II provides control of volunteer corn that does not include the Enlist trait (refer to product label for rate information). This includes volunteer Roundup Ready corn (glyphosate-resis- tant), LibertyLink corn (glufosinate-resistant) and IMI corn (imidazolinone-resistant). For applications on Enlist corn, Assure II can be applied in V2-V6 growth stage. It controls a number of key weeds including fall panicum, quackgrass, broadleaf signalgrass, goosegrass and barnyardgrass.
