NORTHSHOREMAG.COM 6 SEPTEMBER 2019 PHOTOGRAPHS, TOP TO BOTTOM BY JARED CHARNEY, BY ELISE SINAGRA, AND BY DOUG LEVY It is the day after Northshore magazine's biggest and brightest event of the year— BONS—as I write this letter for the September issue. I can't help but to think of the sense of community I felt last night while visiting with our readers, community leaders, guests, sponsors, partners, and, of course, the BONS winners themselves. e joyous energy was palpable. e evening's atmosphere was magical on the expansive Crane Estate, with the Great House as a backdrop and the swath of bright green allée rolling down to views of Plum Island and beyond. I spoke to so many wonderful people—restauranteurs, designers, shop keepers, real estate agents, teachers, artists, dancers, chefs—and couldn't help but to feel fortunate to be part of such a dynamic community with such beautiful places to live and explore. This issue focuses on some of our region's favorite neighborhoods, and I hope reading it gives you a real sense of just how unique our neighborhoods can be. We explore Beverly, a city boasting plentiful access to the arts, higher education, and great restaurants, not to mention beautiful beaches! We also visit downtown Marblehead and talk with a tenth-generation resident who shares some history and lore of this waterfront town. We drop by the suburbs of North Andover, a community perfect for young families and empty-nesters alike. And we also stop in Lynnfield and check out MarketStreet's thriving dining and shopping scene, as well as heading to downtown Gloucester, a city that harmoniously melds its fishing industry with its identity as a tourist destination. We hope you enjoy this issue that shines a light on some of the top places to live on the North Shore. I know we are only scratching the surface. Let us know what your favorite neighborhood is in our region we are proud to call home. Nancy E.
